Viên thuốc chiết xuất từ loại hóa chất mạnh có trong súp lơ xanh có thể sớm được cung cấp cho các bệnh nhân để chống lại những tác hại nguy hiểm nhất của đột quỵ.

Các nhà nghiên cứu Anh đã chứng minh rằng, một phân tử gọi là sulforaphane có trong súp lơ xanh, có tác dụng kích hoạt loại enzyme bảo vệ trong não bộ.
Theo các nhà khoa học tại trường King (London), enzyme này có tác dụng loại bỏ tế bào gốc tự do làm tổn hại và giết chết các tế bào khác có liên quan đến các bệnh như ung thư hay Alzheimer.
Phát hiện này được coi là sự đột phá lớn, có thể giảm thiểu những tác hại mà đột quỵ gây ra chỉ bằng một viên thuốc đơn giản hàng ngày.

Quỹ Trái tim Anh tài trợ cho nghiên cứu trên cho biết, việc tìm kiếm cách thức điều trị mới để ngăn chặn những tác hại của đột quỵ là nhu cầu cấp thiết.
Theo giáo sư Jeremy Pearson, các thử nghiệm cho thấy, sulforaphane có thể làm giảm độ nghiêm trọng của đột quỵ ở chuột.
Ông nhấn mạnh, nếu nó có tác dụng tương tự như ở người thì “trong tương lai, chúng ta có thể chứng kiến mọi người dùng một viên thuốc hàng ngày để ngăn ngừa ảnh hưởng của đột quỵ như cách dùng statin phòng đau tim như hiện nay”.
